Zaha Bag

Behold the Zaha Bag. A clutch purse in soft leather that features sculpted metal cuffs.

This limited-edition handbag collection comes in five colors: black, white, blush, lipstick and electric blue – with the metal cuff offered in a variety of finishes. And only available at Perrin Paris.

The idea, design, and completion of this bag is a sublime collaboration with Zaha Hadid Design and Perrin Paris.

Zaha Hadid Design began in 2006 and creates limited edition furniture, architecturally inspired homeware, sculptural jewellery, and more. Zaha Hadid was also known for her interests in fashion, having joined forces with a number of labels during her career.

Unfortunately, Zaha Hadid passed away in 2016. The handbag collection already had begun before Zaha’s death and was finished by her team in collaboration with Perrin Paris.

Perrin Paris is a French leather accessories brand – family run since 1893 – with shops in Paris, New York City, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.  The brand who started with glove making are now famous for their clutches. The Perrin Paris brand is known for its contemporary designs and heritage – plus their craftsmanship is impeccable. It was Zaha Hadid who was given a Perrin bag and commented how much she liked their style. Word got back and the collaboration began.

Dame Zaha Hadid was an Iraqi-British architect. She was an innovator, a pioneer, and one of the greatest architects – certainly of our time. She has been called the ‘Queen of the Curve’.  Look at her completed structures and marvel at the innovations. Zaha Hadid was the first woman to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize, in 2004. Continuing on to receive other awards from France, Japan, and America.

In 2016, Zaha Hadid was the first woman to be awarded the RIBA Royal Gold Medal. This particular award given by the British monarch, is in recognition of an individual’s significant contribution to international architecture. The recipient is chosen for a distinguished body of work rather than for one building.

Zaha Hadid has a long list of landmark buildings to admire. Some of my favourites are the Guangzhou Opera House in China, the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center in Baku, Azerbaijan, and the Sheikh Zayed Bridge in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Her list of achievements, homewares, fashion, jewellery, and stunning structures lives on.
